‘Manchester to Liverpool Ultra’ 2021 Race Update Dear Participant, I hope you and your family are keeping well through these difficult times. On Monday 22nd February 2021, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, announced the easing of the National Lockdown and easing of the COVID-19 restrictions in England. It is expected, that on the 29th March, outdoor running events will be permitted providing the virus is under control across the UK. Decisions on lifting restrictions from the UK Government will be made based on four tests: 1: Vaccine deployment continuing successfully 2: Evidence shows vaccines are sufficiently effective in reducing hospitalisations and deaths 3: Infection rates do not risk a surge in hospitalisations which put unsustainable pressure on the NHS 4: Governments assessment of risks is not fundamentally changed by new variants To help provide participants with an update regarding the upcoming Manchester to Liverpool Ultra, we are now awaiting confirmation of the return to competition from UK Athletics (UKA), English Athletics and the Trail Running Association (TRA) including the definition of ‘formally organised events’ and any travel restrictions that may apply and will update M2L Ultra participants as soon as we have this information. We also understand that accommodation will not reopen until the 12th April which will mean that participants who are hoping to stay over in Manchester or Liverpool before or after the race, will not be allowed (except for essential or work reasons). We request participants to adhere to the law and not book any accommodation for the race. There are also possible issues with participants travelling to the event from outside of the local area. Hopefully, the UKA and English Athletics announcement will provide more clarity here. As the race date for M2L currently falls outside of the current lockdown restrictions timeframe we are currently working towards the event going ahead on Good Friday 2nd April 2021, and we are confident that we have everything in place to hold a COVID secure event, providing Government and local restrictions allow. Therefore, we understand that some participants may still not be able to make the event, together with the impact on training for the event due to restrictions on movement, and as such we would also like to extend the options below to participants at this time. At this stage, we can offer the following options to all entrants of the 2021 M2L Ultra race: Remain in the 2021 M2L Race Your current race place in the 2021 event will be maintained.
